Wireless Internet Access Policy

Markham Public Library provides free unfiltered wireless Internet connectivity at some locations. The public wireless network is available to users with wireless enabled laptops or PDAs.

Customers utilizing the wireless connection agree to comply with all provisions of the current Internet Policy of Markham Public Library.

The Library does not guarantee the compatibility of customer equipment with the Library's wireless network nor the reliability of connections to the network or to the internet. The Library accepts no responsibility regarding the ability of customer owned equipment to connect to the wireless network. Library staff will not provide technical assistance on customer owned equipment.

The Library's wireless network provides no data encryption between the access points and your device. Use of the wireless internet connection is done at the customer's own risk. It is the responsibility of the customer to protect customer laptop or wireless devices through use of up-to-date virus protection, personal firewall and other measures. The Library recommends that credit card information and passwords not be transmitted while using the wireless network.

The Library assumes no responsibility for the safety of equipment or for device configurations, security, or data files resulting from connection to the Library's network or the Internet, nor liability for any damages to hardware, software or data, howsoever caused.
