A Perfect Night to Go to China by David Gilmour

At first glance the novle "A Perfect Night to Go to China" may seem like the typical personal tragedy: son gets kidnapped, father grieves, police find son and kidnapper is sent to jail; though this novel doesn't follow that traditional form, almost to a fault. The novel has a professional tone to it though it isn't pretentious. An abstract of the first quarter follow along the lines of: a father son duo carry throug their dayt to day activities. Night falls and as the son falls asleep, the father Roman whips out across the street for a quick late night drink. Though during those 15 minutes his somehow kidnapped, killed or walks away and Roman is left in a bind. Those first few pages are quite climactic and then become quite subdued as the search for the little ladcontinues. The novel propels forward with a twist as the father begins to dream about a Caribbean island on which his son and his dead mother are living upon - perhaps visions of heaven? For that answer you will need to read David Gilmour's "A Perfect Nigt to Go to China".
