Battle of the Books

Battle of the Books is a promotion literacy program partnership of the Canadian Federation of University Women, Markham-Unionville, Markham Public Library and the teacher-librarians of the York Region District School Board and York Region Catholic School Board.

E.T. Crowle P.S. - 2010 BATTLE OF THE BOOKS WINNERS!  

This year’s Battle of the Books competition took place on Wednesday April 21ST at Mount Joy P.S.  The gym at Mount Joy was filled to capacity as 13 schools from the Markham area participated in this year's nail biting event.  After 25 rounds of play, E.T. Crowle  battled their way to the gold medal, with Mount Joy, and Coledale placing closely behind.   Congratulations to all the Battle of the Books participants!

E.T. Crowle, won a $100 gift certificate donated, once again, by Green Gables Books and each of the libraries from the top three received books donated by Canadian publishers.

Bringing greetings to the audience were project partners and supporters, including Cheryl Giblon, Chair of the Markham Public Library Board, Dawn Gillespie, member of the CFUW, Markham-Unionville and Mary Jane Torrie, Principal of Mount Joy.
