2008 Accomplishments

The Town of Markham Library Board is delighted to report on another year of tremendous accomplishments supporting the Board's role in ensuring that the Markham community is informed, inspired, empowered and linked.

2008 Highlights include:

  • Wireless Internet access installed at Thornhill Community, Milliken & Unionville branches.
  • Library Settlement Program launched at the Thornhill Community and Milliken branches providing access to newcomer services in partnership with Citizenship and Immigration Canada and other settlement agencies.
  • Our very popular literacy-based Summer Camp programs, funded in part by Canada Summer Jobs grant.
  • All Candidates Meeting for the Markham-Unionville Riding held at the Markham Village Library during October's federal election campaign.
  • Our hotly contested spelling bees during Ontario Public Library Week.
